It's one of those hot summer days where it hits you like a wall when you step outside. Today's heat index: 100 to 110 degrees. So, why am I even thinking about black interior doors? Because they are so stunning and alluring, even on a hot July day.

Painting interior doors black in either low luster or high gloss seems to be such a chic way to update almost any house. Connecting the black to other elements such as these stair treads and patterned black and white floor adds architecture to the space (photo above).
In my own foyer, I've been playing around with the idea of painting my first floor doors a low luster black.

I painted the foyer risers black when we had the house built. I like the idea of connecting the doors with a low luster black as well. Although, first I'll need to tone down the red and go with something neutral for the breakfast area. Painting the doors black with strong paint colors would probably be overwhelming and over decorated.

It's the cascade effect: start thinking of changing one thing and eight more things follow. And of course I can't change my red until I replace my kitchen countertops. But, that's another post and another day....
For now, I'll just look at other beautiful black doors...
