master bath:  tub sconces

The master bath project I'm working on is in full force.  Complete demo happened over the past two days and now the rebuilding begins.  Today, the new handheld shower fixtures were partially installed and shower tiling begins tomorrow.

As with most extensive projects like this one, there are ideas that seem great on paper, but not on site in the actual space.  That's what happened with sconces I had selected to go over the vanity mirrors.  These are amazing Visual Comfort sconces from Circa Lighting

The problem occurred when we held the fixture  up - they were going to have to mount too high and seemed too distant and up near the ceiling.  The sides of the sink wouldn't work because there's just not enough room.   So, I've been re-working the vanity lights.  The soaking tub sits in a nook with right and left walls.  Seems like just the spot for these sconces!

It's actually something not often seen, lighting over the tub area.  If placed on a dimmer.... instant ambiance.  Add a candle or two and voila!... perfect bath lighting.

I'll be on the job site tomorrow working out if our beloved sconces will work on the nook walls.  Sometimes things that don't work out as planned, end up creating an even better plan.

Thought I'd pull together some inspiration....

Barbara Cosgrove Lamps

While at High Point Market, I'd have to say one of my favorite vendors was Barbara Cosgrove Lamps.  Barbara Cosgrove launched her company in 1996 and is now a very successful wholesale lamp manufacturer out of North Kansas City, Mo.  Her design work began in her home garage studio, sculpting clay and metal lamp bases.  In 2007 Country Living Magazine lists her as a Women Entrepreneur Honoree.

The 2011 collection was featured at High Point Market.

The lamps pictured above are called "boy and girl".  They are sold as a set with the unusual lamp shades.  A terrific mix of a very traditional theme with a very modern edge.

Another favorite were these Foo Dog lamps  pictured below and are also sold as a set.  I love the attention to detail, such as a right and left feature, seen in the ball and claw feet.

These Studio Floor lamps were very striking with a wonderful chrome finish and great scale, not too big.  They certainly aren't lamps that are typically found in most home decor.  And that is what I love about this company.  There's a nice range of modern and traditional with an updated twist.

I like the wide range of textures and styles, from porcelain to wicker to glass and more.  Most table lamps have a variety of wonderful shades to choose from, also in a wide range of textures and colors.

Another great design.  These slate lamps would pair so perfectly with a narrow console table or a dresser top.

There's also a line of Studio Home Accents.  This line features accent tables, home accessories and wall art.
