Striped Stair Runners

Staircases are large pieces of furniture.  So, upholster them!  ...with a striped runner.
And don't be afraid of paint.

I'd have to say, at the top of my list is Annie Selke's rug company, Dash and Albert

These are smart, go with just about everything, timeless runners.  Probably best on painted stairs, making those colors pop.

These amazing runners (below) are from the London company Roger Oates, makers of pure wool, flatweave rugs and runners.

A few cans of gloss or semi gloss white paint, a colorful, striped runner... and it's a done deal.  Combined a runner with a patterned rug at the base of the stairs or a plain wool rug at the upstairs.

Love these ideas too...

burlap sacking, looks so great on aged wood runners.
