painting the mirror frame
Last week, my living room mirror looked like this...

Now it looks like this.....

Originally, I had planned to paint it with Benjamin Moore's Silver Fox. And, I did... but way too purple gray. I had my suspicions it would be too purple gray, but had to try it. As with most rooms, it depended on the lighting. But, sitting atop the black cabinet... the Silver Fox just wasn't working.
I ended up using left over cabinet paint from my daughter's bathroom re-do. Which was the right direction, but way too warm of a white.
(Breakfast nook being painted at the same time... I was throwing paint in every direction!)

In order to bring in the cool white I was looking for (without matchy-matching the trim paint) I took water and my wall color (Benjamin Moore Titanium in flat) and brushed on a wash over the warm white. It absolutely did the job. I was also hoping to get a flat, chaulky white which is just what happened.

I was hoping to still use the large mirror, but wanted it to meld with the wall without using exactly the same paint color.
I also decided to use plug in wall sconces. Found these on sale at Pottery Barn.

I love the warm glow in the evening.

Just enough cool in the white without being trim paint.

Still painting, painting, painting in between client installations and new design work. My trip to Ikea for the cowhide flopped. Eight hides - all solid black. While I'm sure a solid black cowhide works amazingly well in some spaces, for this space it would be known as the giant mink. Not the look I'm looking for.
Fabrics have been turned in to be fabricated for pillows, curtains and the ottoman. Still a few more hunts (side board next to chair, foyer cabinet) ~ then the true building begins! I may just make my end of February deadline.
My Etsy shop hasn't seen new inventory in a few weeks. Big Etsy buying trip coming up February 3rd. Check back first weekend in February for new listings!
